Series:                HUMILITY                                                               LESSON 2 of 4:  HUMILITY IN THE SOUL                                 Text:   Genesis 1:26-27

Organizational Humility: When a young person leaves home, the new organization or base for humility is his soul (Gen. 1:26-27; Phil. 4:11-13).

Enforced Humility: When a person uses his volition to obey legitimate authority, he has Enforced Humility (Eph. 6:5-8).

Genuine Humility: This type of humility is free from arrogance and human viewpoint as a way of life. Grace orientation and capacity for life leads this believer to utilize self-discipline to fulfill his purpose (2 Tim. 4:7-8).

HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOUR SOUL

1. Volition. God made us free; He gave us the ability to choose. The smartest choice we can make every day is to have positive, receptive attitude to His word.

2. Mentality.  This is where the spiritual battle is most heated because the enemy does not want us to use our minds to understand the Word of God. Choose wisely.

3. Conscience.  God wants our conscience to become a storehouse for His truth. This is how His work becomes the norms and standards we live by.

4. Emotion.  Our emotions respond to our thoughts, causing us to enjoy our physical and spiritual life if Jesus is the center of our joy.

5. Self-consciousness.  With an attitude of humility, we base our self-image on what the Word says about how God sees us in Christ, then we can accept ourselves. Spiritual self-esteem is what is most important.
